Jose Luis Acanda Montano Delivered A Lecture On “Obesity In Children”

Jose Luis Acanda Montano is a London based nutrition expert. He holds an A.B. degree in biology and has done his M.D. from one of England’s most reputed University. Recently, he was in Canada to attend an obesity treatment & prevention conference. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the rapidly increasing rate of obesity among children and come up with effective ways to deal with it. Other than Jose, many experienced dieticians and nutrition experts attended the conference and shared their views on the subject of child obesity.

Jose Luis Acanda Montano made quite an impression on everyone in attendance with his knowledge and intelligent suggestions to fight the problem of obesity in children. While talking about the main causes of obesity, he said that it can be related to wrong eating habits, lack of exercising, overeating, stress, medications, medical illnesses, etc. If not controlled, obesity can lead to increased risk of heart-related diseases, diabetes, respiratory problems, high blood pressure, etc.

Jose Luis Acanda Montano further said that the only way for obese children to lose weight is to trim down their calorie intake. For quick results, they must make physical activities a part of their daily routine. He also advised parents to keep a check on what their child is eating. By planning their meals and making healthy food selections for them, parents can play a significant role in their child’s weight loss journey. Jose suggested many other ways that can help parents manage obesity in their kids, such as not using food as a reward, controlling portions, encouraging the children to eat meals with the family rather than in front of the computer or television, limiting habits like snaking, etc.
